According to Ashladan.be, reactivated Arizona thrash band SACRED REICH is among the artists that will perform at the 14th edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting, set to take place June 26-28, 2009 on the festival grounds of the Boeretang in Dessel, Belgium. Also scheduled to appear are LEGION OF THE DAMNED and KATAKLYSM.

According to the organizers, the concept remains identical: three days of metal mania, four stages, 70 bands, metal market, festival fair, side animation, signing sessions and much more!"

The 2008 edition of Graspop Metal Meeting featured performances by DEF LEPPARD, ICED EARTH, TESTAMENT, WHITESNAKE and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, among many others.

GRASPOP METAL MEETING LOOKING TO RENAME METAL DOME

If you’re watching the snow come down the next edition of GMM probably seems light years away, but make no mistake: behind the scenes it’s all hands on deck. We’re busting our chops again to make GMM2009 the heavy metal place to be. We have quite a few novelties lined up to spoil our guests: all-in beverage packs, a new brewer, a genuine “relaxation resort” at the campsite… more details to follow soon!

One of the main points of interest for GMM2009 was relocating Marquee 1 to increase our capacity. This creates more space for additional food and drink token stalls.

The Metal Dome is also getting a makeover. What once started as the “booze tent” has matured into a fourth stage. In 2005 there were only gigs on Friday, but in the meantime the Metal Dome welcomes a broad selection of promising new bands throughout the weekend! For instance, Volbeat started their GMM career in the Dome and were ultimately upgraded to Marquee 1!
The Metal Dome recipe remains unchanged viz. showcasing less well-known international talent! A makeover also calls for a new name and that’s where you come in. Come up with a cool and original new name for the Metal Dome and win a great prize!
